Studio Story

The Studio

GOOD DESIGN SHOULD FEEL PERSONAL. BECAUSE IT IS.

The Act of Design starts with a simple idea: a space shouldn't look like it could belong to just anybody. It should make sense for the people who use it—and have something of their personality in it.

We work across architecture, residential interiors, workplaces, retail and hospitality, bringing together spatial thinking, materials and the small, sometimes stubborn details that make a space feel complete.

We don't begin with a formula. We begin with questions, curiosity and an open mind. The rest is a rather satisfying exercise in making everything come together.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE PLANS.

Architect by education. Designer by instinct. Detail-obsessed by nature.

I'm Ishani. Born and raised in New Delhi, trained in architecture at Chitkara University, and now more than a decade into a profession that still gives me reasons to get excited about the smallest things.

An awkward corner. A perfectly resolved proportion. A metal detail that's been made exactly right. I notice them all. Occupational hazard, perhaps.

My work has taken me through homes, offices, retail and hospitality spaces, but my favourite part has always been finding the balance between a beautiful idea and the practical thinking it takes to make it real. Somewhere along the way, I developed a particular fascination with materials, metalwork and custom furniture.

At TAD, I get to bring those worlds together—the creative and the technical, the bold ideas and the tiny decisions. Because looking good is one thing. Living and working beautifully is another.

WHAT MAKES US TICK.

NOTHING BY ACCIDENT

We care about the proportions, the materials and the edges you may never consciously notice. We notice. And we think they matter.

PERSONALITY OVER PINTEREST

We love a good reference image. We just don't believe anyone should have to live inside somebody else's saved folder.

GOOD TASTE HAS STAYING POWER

Trends can be fun. But a thoughtful layout, honest materials and a piece made well should still feel right years later.

That's the act in The Act of Design: thinking it through, right down to the things most people don't think about.
